we shared the same season in Daedeok.**
Six weeks ago, we began with nothing but a blank sheet of paper. At first, some of us hesitated, unsure of what to draw. But as we filled the pages one by one, drawing pictures and sharing our stories, we slowly began to discover a little more about each other’s everyday lives.
For some, Daedeok was a place filled with childhood memories. For others, it was a favorite neighborhood café, a familiar road they had walked along with someone, or a place holding someone precious.
Though we came from different walks of life, we found one another within a shared story— the story of youth living in Daejeon, in Daedeok.
Each of the young artists poured the beauty they carried within themselves into the pages of this picture book.
A piece of that summer has now become a picture book.
And along the way, we came to realize that our ordinary everyday lives were already treasures in themselves.
I hope this picture book becomes, for someone, an illustrated guide to everyday life in Daedeok, and for us, a treasure that will forever hold the memory of the summer of 2026.
To all the young artists who created 「DeokUpIlHwa(畵)」 together, I want to say thank you. It was truly a beautiful summer.
