Even feelings that are difficult to fully express in words can reach one another through pictures and stories. When different experiences and perspectives come together, each person’s story becomes part of a shared record, carrying new meaning.

The stories in DeokUpIlHwa (畵) are records of everyday life, told through the unique perspectives and experiences of youth living in Daedeok-gu. Coming from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, the participants shared their everyday lives through pictures and stories, bringing their own experiences together in a single picture book.

Daedeok Youth Bunker will continue to support youth as they discover and express their own hobbies and interests, helping those experiences grow into creativity, personal growth, and new forms of work. We will also continue our efforts to ensure that the diverse everyday lives and stories of youth can become opportunities to understand one another’s lives and grow into new local content that captures Daedeok-gu.

We hope this book becomes, for some, a small opportunity to understand someone else’s story and share their feelings, and for others, a first page in discovering the everyday life and stories of the Daedeok-gu they call home in a new way.
